Since one of the major issues discouraging the poor and middle income earners from working with the formal financial institutions is stringent requirements in opening banking accounts and inability of customers’ needs to be understood and provided for, PEGRO was designed to handle these issues as part of its primary mandates. The organisation is built on the principles of Cooperatives and as such member wealth maximisation is the focus – not shareholders wealth maximisation. The designated Member Development Office is to be responsible for carefully listening to their ever changing needs and developing appropriate packages that will ensure optimum satisfaction of such needs.
